Amend a DOC Procedure

A device with a valid DOC may need updates requiring the DOC to be amended. In certain cases, an abbreviated amended DOC may be requested rather than a full recertification. This document details the steps involved in amending a DOC.

Audience: Licensed Vendors

To amend a DOC, follow this procedure:

  1. Request pre-authorization for amending a DOC.
To verify that the modifications qualify for Amend a DOC, submit a detailed change log to the ODVA Conformance Authority at [email protected]. The change log must describe all modifications done to the device since the DOC was last issued, including both CIP related and non-CIP modifications.
You will receive an email reply with the verdict, usually within 5 business days.
  1. Order the Amendment
    Place the order at: https://www.odva.org/subscriptions-services/test-services/amend-a-doc/
You will need to reference the pre-authorization verdict email.
  2. Schedule with an ODVA Test Engineer
After the order is processed, you will receive an email from the assigned engineer with detailed instructions to complete the process.
  3. Provide the Required Artifacts
Run the Protocol Conformance Test (using the same CT revision of the software as the original DOC was issued for) and save the results. You will need to provide the following files:

    1. The soc/stc file used.
    2. The resulting log file.
    3. The device EDS file.

Send these files to the assigned test engineer.

  1. Receive the Test Report and Updated DOC
The test engineer will issue the finalized test report upon analyzing the provided test artifacts. After the payment has been processed, the updated DOC will be issued.
