Specification Terms

The right to use the Specifications to design, manufacture, or sell products incorporating all or any part of the Specifications is subject to the terms and conditions of the Terms of Usage Agreement. The license for Specification subscriptions may be viewed here.

The specifications for CIP Networks™ are published as The CIP Networks Library, which currently comprises nine volumes. To view which volumes comprise the Specification you wish to purchase, please click here.

Specifications are obtained through a subscription, which entitles the Buyer to updates to the network Specifications for one (1) year. The Definitive Versions of the Final Specifications are in English and are distributed electronically.

If the Buyer wishes to obtain duplicate copies (e.g., two EtherNet/IP Specifications), a second full subscription must be purchased. Enterprise licenses are available for all of ODVA’s specifications to allow Licensed Vendors to share the publication with multiple users who are employees and on-site contracted individuals performing typical employee functions on a contract basis. If access to these files is given to contractors, the Licensed Vendor must ensure that the contractors can fulfill the obligations of the Licensed Vendor’s Terms of Usage Agreement for the ODVA technology.

To purchase the CIP Safety Specification subscription, a vendor must hold either a DeviceNet Vendor ID or an EtherNet/IP Vendor ID.

Vendor ID Terms

In order to purchase a Vendor ID, the Buyer must have a current subscription to the specification for the applicable network.

Software Terms

The ODVA Conformance Test Software is obtained through a subscription, which entitles the Buyer to updates to the specific software for one (1) year. The current Composite Test (CT) version of the software is distributed via an emailed download link. The right to use the software to design, manufacture, or sell products incorporating all or any part of the Specifications is subject to the responsibilities outlined in the Terms of Usage Agreement. The Software License Agreement may be viewed here. The software is intended for use by companies/developers interested in self-testing their product prior to having the test performed by ODVA’s Test Service Providers; therefore, the Buyer must have a current subscription to the specification of the network adaptation of the software the Buyer is purchasing. The software is intended for use as a complement to the Buyer’s own testing. It does not guarantee product conformance to the relevant Specification.

Subscription Renewal Terms

Please note that prior to the expiration of your subscription, you will automatically receive an invoice from ODVA in order to renew the subscription. If you do not wish to continue your subscription, please notify ODVA by emailing us in advance of your renewal date that you wish to cancel. Please note that pursuant to the user responsibilities outlined in the Terms of Usage Agreement, cancellation of a subscription to the specifications may impact your rights to sell products incorporating ODVA technologies.

Fulfillment and Refund Policy

ODVA will fulfill all subscriptions via a download link emailed to the subscription holder upon receipt of payment. Vendor ID numbers will be emailed directly to the order contact.

Refunds are available on subscriptions to the specifications pursuant to section 4.2 of the ODVA Terms of Usage Agreement. To request a refund, write [email protected] no later than 45 days after receipt of the specifications. Refunds are not available on subscriptions to the conformance test software or on Vendor IDs.
