The PlugFest provides an opportunity for EtherNet/IP product vendors to test their product against a suite of interoperability tests with a number of other product and infrastructure vendors. The goal of the PlugFest is to provide feedback to the developer regarding any possible interoperability problems before they are discovered in the field. Any information discovered during PlugFest is to be used only by the participating companies for purposes of improving their own products. Devices are tested first against a predefined test configuration and test procedure. Testing concludes with interoperability testing in a full multi-vendor system configuration. In addition, device performance testing will also be performed, and each product will be provided with a performance analysis that includes packet throughput and jitter.
The PlugFest will consist of testing products for compliance to the following recommendations:
Recommended Functionality for EtherNet/IP Devices, PUB00070, v2.0, November 10, 2008
Recommended IP Addressing Methods for EtherNet/IP Devices, PUB00028, v1.0, June 10, 2003
IPv4 Address Conflict Detection for EtherNet/IP Devices, PUB00127, v1.5, June 6, 2006
The testing follows a formal test plan outlined in the:
EtherNet/IP Interoperability Test Procedures, PUB00095, v2.0, November 10, 2008.
