NEW JOINT SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP IS FORMED FOR MODBUS INTEGRATION - Initial Meeting Set for May 10-11, 2007. ODVA would like to announce that a new Joint Special Interest Group (JSIG), the Modbus Integration JSIG, is being formed to develop a standardized network translation between the Common Industrial Protocol ("CIP™") and the Modbus® application protocol on various stacks such as TCP/IP and Serial Line. This new functionality will be designed to complement and expand the family of CIP Networks and will provide for the integration of Modbus server devices into the CIP Network architecture.

The work plan goals for the Modbus Integration JSIG includes developing specifications to fully define the integration of Modbus server devices, demonstration of a prototype and assisting the Conformance Authority in developing conformance tests for Modbus server devices. The Modbus Integration JSIG operates under the authority of ODVA and ControlNet International, Ltd. (“CI”).

To join the new Modbus Integration JSIG, please complete, sign, and submit to ODVA the JSIG Participation Agreement (PUB00007), available from www.odva.org. ODVA will confirm your participation by reply email, sending the meeting agenda, a technical overview of the approach, meeting materials and the directions to meeting location.
