The EtherNet/IP™ conformance-tested 1761-NET-ENI Ethernet Interface (ENI) provides a cost-effective way to network MicroLogix™ and CompactLogix™ controllers, and many other DF1 full duplex devices via Ethernet. The ENI allows any computer on the Ethernet network to access a controller connected to the ENI, providing the entire engineering/manufacturing staff with access to controller data. Mainframe computers can query ENI-connected controllers for data each night and formulate daily production reports. Maintenance personnel benefit from program upload, download, and monitoring capabilities, as well as an email feature that allows an ASCII string to be sent to any email address. Email message content might include production data, alarms, or other status information, and can be sent to any computer, cell phone, or pager capable of receiving an email message.
